Resilience is the ability to be adaptable to pressure, both personally and professionally, in the midst of a high-pressured, fast-paced and continuously changing environment.
Resilient individuals demonstrate emotional, psychological and physical competencies that enable them to master change. By being resilient in the workplace, employees are more likely to respond to challenges in a positive way, as opposed to the situation having a detrimental effect (i.e. causing stress). Resilient organisations create work environments that positively impact upon both employee and business goals.
It is the work environment, and its affect on both personal and team resilience, which is covered in the Corporate Resilience Programme. Managing such pressure starts with understanding the nature and consequences of such pressure. Stress and pressure are often used interchangeably, but pressure, when it is used productively can provide a needed stimulus for enhanced performance. However, stress is the negative destructive force that can materialise as pressure becomes more intense.
Our resilience programme can provide organisations and managers with the means to engage their teams in addressing current problem areas while incorporating behaviours to promote effective ways of working, resulting in a work environment that inspires and energises people.
By adopting the resilience programme, organisations benefit from the creation of a work environment that is more focused, effective and productive. Employees are therefore more motivated and enabled to work optimally. Thus, businesses benefit through enhanced quality of work, which contributes to overall organisational efficiency.
